SEOUL, Jan. 9 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul government is set to introduce a new AI chatbot service dedicated to discussing administrative matters later this year.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government has announced plans to invest over 200 billion won in a total of 842 upcoming Fourth Industrial Revolution projects this year, building on the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and the Internet of Things.
The series of IT projects kicks off with an AI-based chatbot service that will serve as a communication channel through which residents can discuss civic matters.
The chatbot service will first be trialed sometime during the second half of this year, with plans for it to be introduced on popular messengers such as KakaoTalk and Naver Talk.
“This year’s investment budget is up 3.5 percent from last year’s 204.8 billion won. As most of the projects award contracts to private businesses, it could prove a boost for the economy and create new job opportunities for young people,” the Seoul government said.
Under the new plan, seven new locations will be equipped with IoT technology in the city this year, with Seoul’s transport center moving its data processing devices to a second data center in the Sangam neighborhood.
The Seoul government is set to hold a briefing on Thursday at City Hall where plans for information business projects will be revealed. To watch the livestream of the event, visit the official website.
