SEOUL, March 31 (Korea Bizwire) – A new safety monitoring app which is set to be released tomorrow will help vulnerable members of society such as women and youth get out of dangerous situations by shaking their phone, Daegu Metropolitan City announced yesterday.
The new crime reporting app was invented by both the Daegu city government and the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency with the aim developing a more convenient crime reporting system and faster police response so as to minimize the impact of crime.
The app’s most noteworthy feature comes in the form of its analysis of shaking motion, which allows app users to send an SOS message to police without the perpetrator knowing.
In case of an emergency such as kidnapping, battery, confinement or distress where making a phone call is not a viable option, users can also press the home button which will send an SOS message via text to police.
If personal information about a guardian has been saved on the phone, the 112 emergency call center will also receive the aforementioned information along with the location of those in danger.

For foreign residents and visitors, English, Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese versions of the app will be also available.
The new crime reporting app is set to be released tomorrow on the Google Play Store.
