SEOUL, Sept. 4 (Korea Bizwire)Shinsegae Group, which operates high-end department stores throughout the nation, announced that it is launching a new smartphone app that will allow shoppers to check, in real-time, the wait time at restaurants situated within Shinsegae malls.

Through the service, which launched at Shinsegae’s Gangnam branch yesterday and will roll out at its Gyeonggi store today, shoppers can check the number of people waiting at various restaurants of their choice.

After shoppers check which restaurants are less crowded, they can head over to the food court and reserve a spot via a tablet PC available at each restaurant.

During the wait, customers can spend their time shopping within Shinsegae until they are informed via text message when their table is ready.

Cho Wu-seong, the managing director of Shinsegae Department Store, explained that the new service was implemented due to the significant number of shoppers who prefer to dine within the shopping mall.

“If the response is positive, we plan to expand the service to all of our shopping malls,” said Cho.
