SEOUL, Feb. 7 (Korea Bizwire) — Older people prefer to go on short trips frequently, a recent study showed.
The Korea Tourism Association conducted a survey of 240 seniors more than 60 years old, 43.7 percent of whom said they prefer to go on short trips on a frequent basis.
At 55.6 percent, more than half of the respondents preferred to go on ‘themed travel’ experiences where they can learn about the history and culture of the destination, while 25.4 percent also liked to go on ‘fair travel’ where they can interact with locals.
As for the preferred means of accommodation, 62 percent picked forest lodges, followed by pensions (14.1 percent) and boutique hotels (7.7 percent).
Slightly more than one third of the respondents wanted to bring their spouse as their travel companion, followed by friends (25.4 percent) and members of a travel club (22.5 percent).
