“Based on the Total Integration Management System (TIMS), we will make Gwangju Summer Universiade an “IT Festival” so that people can enjoy the sports festival anytime and anywhere in the world.“
“Gwangju Universiade, which will be managed by cutting-edge IT technologies, will bring much joy to spectators and peace of mind to athletes enabling them to focus on their competition.”
- SK C&C, IT operator of Gwangju Summer Universiade
SEOUL, June 25 (Korea Bizwire) – SK C&C, the builder and operator of the Total Integration Management System (TIMS) for the forthcoming 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade to be held in June, unveiled its blueprints to make the sports festival for university students an “IT festival.”
To date, SK C&C has finished constructing the IT system, and is currently running tests. The TIMS is comprised of five sectors with 24 sub-systems.
The sub-systems include the GMS, which offers convenience facilities to the participating athletes; GRS, which records and stores results and transfers the data to broadcasters; T&S, which prevents false starts and bad calls; IDS, which provides results and other information to various tools like the web, video and mobile; and GSS, which monitors and takes action against possible malfunctions in the system.
SK C&C will prepare the IT Control Center that oversees all the IT systems, and will provide for every contingency.
The company, which is making its first foray into system integration in the sports sector, is hoping to use TIMS as a stepping-stone to find more opportunities at other big sports events such as the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
