SEOUL, May 16 (Korea Bizwire) South Korea’s top waste management company SK ecoplant Co. said Monday it had achieved a breakthrough in manufacturing recycled boxes by utilizing discarded paper resources from logistics centers.

This achievement was made possible through a collaboration between SK ecoplant, logistics giant CJ Logistics Corp., and local packaging firm Tailim Packaging Co.

The recycled boxes were created using waste paper collected from CJ Logistics’ Yongin logistics center.

Once the collected waste paper underwent a compression process, it was transformed into recycled boxes at Tailim Packaging. Subsequently, these boxes were supplied to CJ Logistics’ Gunpo logistics center.

SK ecoplant accomplished this milestone by implementing a closed-loop resource circulation system.

This innovative approach involves collecting waste materials, recycling them, and then utilizing them as production resources for the companies that originally discarded them.

The three companies have ambitious plans to expand the system’s application to over 400 logistics centers across the country, all owned by CJ Logistics.

Through this initiative, they aim to recycle approximately 5,000 tons of paper resources annually.
