SEOUL, March 22 (Korea Bizwire) – SK-affiliated ventures are dominating the loyalty mobile application market in South Korea, according to a recent survey released yesterday.
Among Android smartphone users – who account for 80 percent of all smartphone owners in the country – SK Planet’s Syrup Wallet proved most popular with nearly 4.5 million monthly active users as of last month, according to WiseApp, a South Korean research company that specializes in the mobile app industry.
OK CASHBAG and T-membership, which are also owned by companies under the SK umbrella, followed closely with large user bases of 3.73 million and 2.4 million respectively.
The combined number of top three mobile loyalty app users amounts to 10.61 million people, surpassing the 10.26 million people who use at least one of the rest of the top ten apps.
Happy Point, a loyalty points system run by Paris Baguette and Dunkin Donuts owner SPC Group, came fourth with more than two million users every month.
Major mobile network loyalty apps such as KT’s Clip and KT membership, or U+ membership by LG U+ all ranked in the top ten.
CJ Group’s CJ ONE had a monthly following of over one million users (1.2 million) while Lotte Group’s L Point and Ediya Coffee’s Ediya Members closely followed the conglomerate in the food service and entertainment industry.
