SEOUL, Feb. 10 (Korea Bizwire) — SK IE Technology Co., a material business unit under South Korean EV battery producer SK Innovation Co., said Tuesday that it decided to use only eco-friendly energy for the electricity required at its domestic facilities.
In South Korea, there are some companies which use eco-friendly energy as the electricity supply but only partially, thus SK IE Technology is the first to introduce 100 percent eco-friendly energy in its plants.
The company participated in the state-run Korea Electric Power Corp.’s ‘green premium’ bidding in earlier this month and won the bid on Monday.
Accordingly, its use of eco-friendly energy for the electricity it will use throughout this year, including the power used last month, will be recognized.
SK IE Technology plans to use the provided green electricity at its domestic facilities, including two lithium-ion battery separator (LiBS) plants.
