SEOUL, March 22 (Korea Bizwire) SK Telecom announced plans to expand its ‘Smart Home’ offerings by providing consumers with more opportunities to experience the company’s home Internet of Things (IoT) services.

The company announced that it will start selling five different Smart Home connection gadgets including plugs, switches, sensors, gas circuit breakers and bridges (devices that connect home appliances to a Wi-Fi router).

In addition, 13 different home electronic appliances that link to the Smart Home service will be launched at all T Premium stores starting April 1.

Consumers will be able to use the smart devices in the Smart Home Experience Zones at 140 T Premium stores nationwide. Air purifiers, kimchi refrigerators, water heaters, air conditioners and door locks will be on display, and consumers will be able to see how they work by using them in person.

After launching payment plans for its Smart Home service, SK Telecom plans to run various promotions to broaden its user base.

To spur the expansion of IoT services and devices, SK plans to launch more devices such as motion sensors, temperature and humidity sensors, and gas leak alarms by the end of the year. The company is currently developing a voice recognition user interface, and is hoping to finalize the system by the end of the year.
