South Korean President Declares Martial Law Amid Heightened Military Alert

SEOUL, Dec. 3  (Korea Bizwire) – President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law on December 3, pledging to “rebuild and safeguard the Republic of Korea from descending into ruin.” The announcement came during an emergency briefing held at the presidential office in Yongsan, Seoul.

In response, Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun convened a late-night meeting with senior military commanders, instructing all units to strengthen emergency vigilance and readiness.

Reports indicate that troops from the Army’s Special Warfare Command, known for their elite capabilities, have been ordered to assemble and are currently mobilizing to their respective units.

The declaration of martial law marks a rare and significant escalation, underscoring the gravity of the situation. Further details regarding the scope and duration of the measures have yet to be disclosed.
