SEOUL, Sept. 14 (Korea Bizwire) – The La Mercè festival held in Barcelona from September 22 through 25 will feature a number of Korean acts thanks to the Korean Cultural Center in Spain. 

Drawing circus act the Croquiky Brothers, breakdance team the IOF Crew, traditional Korean percussion group Tago and “Creative Group” NONI will perform a total of 23 times.

In addition, a “Hansik” Korean food truck will be winding its way through the 2 million attendees at the festival.

La Mercè surged in popularity in 1902, when giant papier-mâchés became a common feature at parades. The focal point of the festival is centered on September 24, the Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic day of feasting. The festival is believed to have begun in 1871.
