Special Summer Sale for International Visitors to Seoul

SEOUL, Jun. 27 (Korea Bizwire)A special sale that offers significant discounts for foreign visitors in Seoul will kick off on July 1.

The “Seoul Summer Sale” to be held during the entire month of July was jointly announced by the city government of Seoul and the Seoul Tourism Organization.

The number of businesses participating in the sale is the largest in the event’s history, with 203 entities accounting for 1,537 stores expected to offer discounts to tourists.

Last year a total of 133 entities accounting for 1,486 stores participated in the sale.

Companies participating in this year’s sale will target tourists from Southeast Asia and China, as the number of tourists from these regions continues to grow.

The city has announced that there has been a sharp increase in the number of companies offering discounts for various experiences, food and accommodations.

A total of 41 brands were selected to participate in the food category, up from just eight last year.

With regards to lodging, 68 brands will participate in the sale via the global travel platform Expedia, where various events associated with the sale await international tourists.

According to Seoul officials, Gangnam Arumdaun Nara, a famed dermatology clinic in the city’s southern district, will be offering discounts of up to 80 percent.

BK Plastic Surgery Clinic is offering a 50 percent discount for double eyelid surgery for first time patients.

In the financial sector, KEB Hana Bank and Shinhan Bank will be offering large discounts on foreign exchange transaction fees, said city officials overlooking the sale event.

In an attempt to attract younger female tourists from China, Japan, and Southeast Asia, the city will offer online events and produce viral videos featuring LINE FRIENDS, characters that are very popular throughout Asia with the younger demographics.
