TAEAN, May 6 (Korea Bizwire)Salt farms in Chungcheongnam-do’s Taean-gun are starting to collect pine flower powder salt, which can be only produced during a short window of about one week at this time of year, when pine trees start to release their pollen into the air.

Rich with calcium and vitamins B1, B2 and E, pine flower powder is also known to be effective in treatments for anti-aging and the reduction of fatty liver disease.

As 90 percent of Taean’s forest is dense with pine trees, pollen travels through the air before eventually landing at the county’s salt farms. The pine flower powder salt is especially popular with Koreans as a rare and novel gift.
