SEOUL, Feb. 3 (Korea Bizwire)The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (SMOE) will launch a series of job training and experience programs starting this month to strengthen teachers’ ability to teach artificial intelligence (AI).

The Seoul Education Research & Information Institute, which is affiliated with the SMOE, will conduct job training for basic AI courses based on data literacy starting from February 10.

This year, the SMOE will teach 20 teachers from elementary, middle and high schools in Seoul tools to analyze data and offer a three-day, participatory training program in the actual use.

The government has set this year’s job training theme as AI. Following the basic training, the institution plans to pursue basic and intensive training.

Some 400 teachers from kindergarten, elementary, middle and high schools with AI and coding experience will be deployed to the school site.

The SMOE will also run a “Software Education Experience Program,” which will visit schools every Wednesday from April to December.

A teacher dispatched from the Software Education Center under the institute will guide the school’s software management.

The SMOE plans to complete the development of AI textbooks soon and also run an AI-IoT pilot program that will run in conjunction with the regular curriculum.

To that end, the SMOE plans to train 800 to 1,000 professional teachers with master’s degrees in AI education starting this year, and deploy one person to each elementary and middle school.
