SEOUL, Oct. 6 (Korea Bizwire) — Among the Afghan evacuees who were airlifted to South Korea in August, teenage girls will learn taekwondo.
Together with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation started teaching the Korean traditional martial art to children and teenagers under 18 years of age among the Afghan women airlifted to South Korea at the National Human Resources Development Institute in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province from Wednesday.
Some instructors from the foundation and a group of volunteers will teach them seven times until Oct. 20. The foundation will provide the necessary equipment, including uniforms.
“We expect the taekwondo education to help the teenage Afghan girls stabilize their mind, while relieving stress through physical activity,” said Oh Eung-hwan, the chairman of the foundation.
