Teenage Winter Sports Athletes from ‘No-Snow’ Countries Begin Training in S. Korea

SEOUL, June 1 (Korea Bizwire)A group of teenage winter sports athletes from countries that have little snow will have off-season training in South Korea.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Gangwon provincial office and the Pyeongchang Memorial Foundation jointly announced that 100 teenage athletes from 14 countries, including Thailand and Ethiopia, will undergo a first round of training in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, from May 30 to June 12.

The invited teenage athletes will also be given the chance to participate in the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games.

The teenage athletes will experience a variety of winter sports such as bobsleigh, ski jump and skeleton, while undergoing basic training programs.

Moreover, they will also visit the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and attend various events to experience Korean culture such as K-pop and taekwondo.
