CHUNCHEON, June 30 (Korea Bizwire) — The city of Chuncheon in Gangwon Province is introducing a biometrics-based animal registration program that identifies pets based on the spots on their noses and facial features.
The program is intended to reduce the number of abandoned or lost animals each year while encouraging people to register their pets.
In addition to the microchip implants and external identification, Chuncheon is rolling out the new biometrics-based registration system that identifies each animal by physical attributes.
The city expects that the new program will encourage more people to register their pets since the program doesn’t impose any limits on time or space.
