Turkish Woman Tweets in Korean to Boost Earthquake Recovery Efforts

SEOUL, Feb. 9 (Korea Bizwire)Following the devastating earthquake that shook Turkey’s southeastern region earlier this week, a Turkish woman called out for help in the Korean language.

Celine Gunner, a digital producer at a broadcasting station in Istanbul, sent out a series of tweets on Tuesday.

“Everyone, it’s an emergency. Turkey needs help from all around the world,” she said in a tweet. “Homes have collapsed, and thousands of people are out in the streets.”

“We need financial support to buy basic necessities like sleeping bags, blankets, baby food and others,” she added.

“Due to different currency values between Turkey and South Korea, we can buy five blankets for the price of three cups of coffee in Korea,” Guner said. “What you may think as a small donation is still very important for Turkey.”
