Universities to Hold Offline Welcoming Ceremonies for Freshmen

SEOUL, Jan. 9 (Korea Bizwire)Universities in Seoul are scrambling to prepare for offline welcoming ceremonies for freshmen for the first time since social distancing measures were lifted in April last year.

Seoul National University is holding three rounds of offline orientation programs on Jan. 5, 10 and Feb. 13, the first of their kind since four years ago in 2019.

Yonsei University also plans to hold an offline orientation for newly enrolled students next month.

Ewha Womans University, too, plans to hold all enrollment and welcoming ceremonies offline this year.

Other colleges that have yet to decide on the format of welcoming events are leaning towards holding them offline.

Some, however, are taking a more cautious approach, eyeing the spike in infections among Chinese nationals entering South Korea and the rising concern over another virus wave nationwide.
