ULSAN, Aug. 18 (Korea Bizwire) – The local government of Ulsan is looking into employing unmanned aircraft to help find whales for whale-watching tours. Since drones can have difficulty operating in high winds, the city is considering the use of unmanned helicopters.
The unmanned helicopters or drones will survey the sea first, and once whales are discovered, the Sea Whale tourist ship will move to the area, allowing the passengers to see the whales.
Since purchasing the unmanned helicopters is estimated to cost 200 million won, the local government is looking into borrowing the equipment. In addition, it remains to be determined whether the unmanned helicopter can land on the Sea Whale ship or not. Whether reformation of the equipment is possible or not is also under investigation.
