SEOUL, Nov. 5 (Korea Bizwire) — SK Group has vowed to create more social value within the community by kicking off an environmental campaign that aims to reduce the use of disposable cups within the company.
According to a source within SK Group, companies currently situated within the SK Building in Jongno, Seoul including SK Innovation Co. and SK Holdings Co. have initiated the environmental campaign starting this month.
SK’s other subsidiaries such as SK E&S Co., located in a nearby office building, will also take part in the campaign which seeks to cut the use of disposable cups by implementing three rules.
The rules will enforce the use of personal mugs or tumblers within the company office, while glass bottles, beverage cans, and P.E.T. bottles will be permitted only when absolutely necessary.
In addition, takeout cups will not be allowed to be brought into the office building.
The café situated inside SK Building offers mugs and tumblers for use, while its cafeteria will be replacing all of its items with environmentally-friendly products within the month.
Meanwhile, SK Innovation is currently promoting its “I Green We Green Challenge,” a relay campaign that has its members uploading photos of environmental activities before designating the next person to follow suit.
SK Holdings stated that the campaign will be actively carried out in other cities in Korea as well as the company’s foreign branches.
A PR executive at SK Holdings said that protecting the environment was a core component through which social value is created. “All of us at SK will continue to work hard to protect the environment,” said the SK employee.
