SEOUL, Jan. 22 (Korea Bizwire) — Kang Daniel, the pivotal member of now-disbanded K-pop boy band Wanna One, is preparing for his solo debut in April, his agency has said.
“Kang Daniel is preparing a music record with a goal of debuting as a solo artist in April,” his management agency said Monday, adding that details of the plan will be released in the future.
Running a live video on his Instagram account a day earlier, the 23-year-old himself hinted at the April debut.
“I cannot give you the exact details of my future plan, but please meet me in April,” he said.
Also on Monday, an online cafe for Kang Daniel’s fans was launched on the internet portal Daum and drew a membership of over 90,000 fans just in one day.
Kang set a Guinness world record by gaining 1 million followers in less than 12 hours of opening his personal Instagram account on Jan. 1.
On the same day, another Wanna One member, Yoon Ji-sung, opened his online fan club on Daum ahead of his solo album release this spring.
Member Bae Jin-young also opened a Daum fan cafe and appeared on Naver’s V Live channel on Monday. Member Park Ji-hoon, meanwhile, is scheduled to throw a meet-and-greet with his fans in the concert hall of Kyung Hee University in Seoul on Feb. 9.
Wanna One officially disbanded on Dec. 31, putting an end to their one-year-and-a-half journey. They will briefly get together for final concerts slated for Thursday to Sunday.
