SEOUL, Dec. 7 (Korea Bizwire) — The Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency has set up X-ray machines at all exits located in Incheon International Airport’s Terminal 1 and 2 to tighten up quarantine procedures for animals and plants.
The X-ray machines are expected to effectively block the entry of banned animals and plants.
“There have been an increasing number of attempts to smuggle a variety of illegal animals and plants into the country. In addition, the worldwide spread of African swine fever, an epidemic that poses a critical risk to our livestock industry, has led us to introduce the X-ray machines,” the agency said.
Ever since the first X-ray machine was set up in 2018 at the airport’s Terminal 2, the number of X-ray machines installed has grown steadily with all exits covered as of earlier this year.
