INCHEON, Feb. 11 (Korea  Bizwire)At least two people were killed and more than 40 injured on Wednesday after a bus started a 100-vehicle pileup on a bridge near Incheon International Airport, South Korea’s main gateway, police said.

The collision took place at 9:34 a.m. on the Seoul-bound side of the bridge linking this western port city with an island where the airport is located.

As of 11 a.m., more than 40 people were injured and being taken to nearby hospitals. Eight were in serious condition.

The body of the first victim, identified only as a 51-year-old Kim, was being transported to a hospital in Goyang, a northern Seoul suburb, police said.

Police and firefighters have cordoned off the entire Seoul-bound section of the bridge. Some lanes on the airport-bound side have also been closed.

Police said it appears an airport limousine bus crashed into a car and started a multi-vehicle collision behind it.

“It seems the fog and speeding may have caused it,” a police official said, requesting anonymity.
