SEOUL, Nov. 8 (Korea Bizwire) – A recent survey has revealed that over 70 percent of Korean adults have expressed intent to make financial investments for the pursuit of ‘Godsaeng,’ a term coined to represent a diligent and exemplary life.

‘Godsaeng’ is a neologism formed by combining ‘God’ and ‘saeng’ (meaning ‘life’ in Korean) and signifies a diligent and exemplary life.

The Korea Broadcast Advertising Corporation (KOBACO) conducted a survey involving 2,000 adults aged 20 to 59 nationwide. The findings indicated that 50.5 percent of respondents were aware of the term ‘Godsaeng,’ with 42 percent expressing their intention to prioritize self-development in pursuit of ‘Godsaeng.’

When examining age groups, awareness of the concept of ‘Godsaeng’ was highest among those in their 20s, standing at 79.5 percent. However, awareness progressively decreased with older age groups, reaching a lower 27.5 percent among individuals in their 50s.

Regarding the question of what aspects should take precedence in achieving ‘Godsaeng,’ 41.6 percent of respondents emphasized ‘self-development’ (encompassing financial investment techniques and job-related studies) as their primary choice. Other responses included ‘financial investment techniques’ (37.3 percent), ‘regular exercise’ (37.2 percent), and ‘maintenance of healthy dietary habits’ (28.8 percent).

In response to a question about their willingness to spend or invest money for ‘Godsaeng,’ 72.9 percent of the respondents answered in the affirmative. Notably, among those willing to allocate funds, 51 percent expressed their readiness to invest more than 100,000 Korean won.

The survey, conducted online from October 5 to 10, was carried out by KOBACO to support the marketing efforts of small and medium-sized enterprises.
