SEOUL, Nov. 13 (Korea Bizwire) — “Thor: Ragnarok” won the box office this weekend for the third consecutive week following a strong opening in South Korea, data showed Monday.
According to the real-time based box office tally from the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), the Disney-Marvel superhero film sold 465,390 tickets over the Nov. 10-12 weekend to bring its domestic total to 4.28 million after 19 days in theaters. It stars such Hollywood A-listers as Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett and Idris Elba.
Coming in close second is the new American indie horror-comedy “Happy Death Day,” seen by 412,107 people.
Two local films featuring actor Ma Dong-seok took the third and fourth place.
“The Bros,” the comedy starring Ma and Lee Dong-hwi, ranked third with 306,790 views, followed by the crime-action “The Outlaws” with 173,899 in attendance.
Another newcomer “A Special Lady,” an action noir led by actress Kim Hye-soo, debuted at No. 5 selling 139,462 tickets.
Directed by Lee An-gyu, the film is about a female underboss of an organized crime ring who dreams of leaving the criminal world after growing it into a promising business group. But her loyal subordinate and fixer can’t understand her and helps a prosecutor get revenge on her.
