SEOUL, Feb. 20 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on Tuesday that it will create vegetable gardens at apartment complexes to expand urban agriculture.
The outer walls of apartments and porches will be used for the gardens.
The city will support the installation of equipment that collects rain to water the gardens, as well as devices that turn food waste into compost.
The city will connect new urban farmers with local urban agricultural agencies to teach them about growing crops.
The new initiative is expected to launch on a trial basis with funding of 60 million won (US$53,167) for two or three apartment complexes. Applications will open at 22 district offices until February 22.
