SEOUL, Mar. 28 (Korea Bizwire) – Seoul’s Seocho District announced on Wednesday that it will install air purifiers in Seoripul Igloos, specially designed bus stops to take shelter from the winter freeze, to use them as ‘fine dust shelters’ in warmer seasons.
The standing type air purifiers have been leased by a private company, and will automatically turn on when fine dust levels reach a certain level.
The district will also install fine dust measurement devices to allow residents to check fine dust levels in real-time.
Seoripul Igloos were first designed as shelters from the winter cold. Now, the district plans to use them as fine dust shelters in spring and autumn, and as shades with fans in the summer.
The district plans to add five more Smart Eco-shelters, initially installed in two locations in the district last January.
