BUSAN, Feb. 8 (Korea Bizwire) Authorities in the port city of Busan plan to hold a so-called Morning Knock campaign to protect the lives of stray cats.

In winter, stray cats are often found hiding under car hoods or in the engine bay to escape the cold, facing the risk of getting hurt or damaging the car if a driver starts it.

In response to such risks, the Morning Knock campaign encourages drivers to lightly knock on the car hood, check under the vehicle before starting the car, and allow the started engine to heat up for 30 to 60 seconds to give cats enough time to escape.

Busan’s Buk District Council and Dongrae District Council joined hands with the Busan Alliance for Prevention of Cruelty for Animals to carry out the campaign.
