Seoul, July 17 (Korea Bizwire) – A monthly women’s magazine in Argentina has published favorable comments about the Korean beauty industry, which is overwhelming Japan.
The Argentinean cultural institute in Korea introduced an article published in OHALA, a popular women’s magazine that covers fashion and beauty issues.
Under the title ‘Seoul is the trend’, OHALA opined that “The latest trends set in Korea have dominated the world during the past few years”.
The magazine noted that ‘If a product makes it in Korea, it can make it worldwide’. This kind of opinion is spreading through the international beauty industry, making Korea the Mecca of this field.
Augustina Vissani, a professor at Palermo University, famous for their expertise in fashion and design, says that “Seoul has secured its place as the new Mecca of the beauty industry. This is why Chanel launched their collection in Seoul, and also why other international companies release their products in Seoul first.”
OHALA takes BB cream as an example of a Korean product creating a craze throughout the world, saying that “Korea is way ahead of Japan at every level, as the Korean cosmetics industry has experienced explosive growth”.
Predicting that Korea will soon dominate Japan in the powdered cosmetics field, where Japan is still on top, OHALA suggests that readers who plan to visit Seoul ‘must’ visit Myeong-dong, which is the center of fashion as well as the Mecca of make-up.
OHALA also said that the popularity of K-pop and Hallyu stars in Central and South America also had a huge effect on the marketing of Korean fashion and cosmetics.
The magazine added that international designer Karl Lagerfeld launched a leather collection for Chanel in Seoul, after being inspired by Hanbok, a type of Korean traditional clothing.
