SEOUL, Feb. 9 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean online video streaming service AfreecaTV said Wednesday it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a subsidiary of VTV, the largest national television broadcaster in Vietnam, to develop a new streaming platform.
Under terms of the MOU, AfreecaTV VTVCab will cooperate to develop a new streaming platform service that allows Vietnamese users to enjoy content produced by local influencers and promote cooperation for the expansion of the e-sports market, which is gaining great popularity in the Southeast Asian country.
VTVCab runs a total of 25 TV channels in Vietnam, while providing a variety of other services such as social media, e-sports and digital payment.
Based on its accumulated platform service know-how, AfreecaTV plans to contribute to launching and operating the new service in Vietnam.
VTVCab will be in charge of operating the new platform service.
