JEJU, July 15 (Korea Bizwire) — Art Jeju, an art fair marking its sixth anniversary this year, will be held at the convention hall of the Lotte Hotel Jeju in the southern resort island of Jeju in for four days from August 4 to 7.
Hosted by the Jeju provincial government and organized by the Island Art Jeju Association, Art Jeju 2022 will welcome artworks from a total of 30 galleries.
Of special note, American-Ivorian contemporary artist Abdoulaye Diarrassouba, also known as Aboudia, will display paintings featuring his trademark bold colors and motifs for the first time in South Korea.
Aboudia has drawn significant attention from overseas collectors in recent years.
The organizers expect Aboudia’s paintings to be the highest-priced artworks among those scheduled to be displayed during the art fair.
In 2021, when it marked its fifth anniversary, Art Jeju achieved a record-breaking performance, attracting about 7,000 visitors and yielding about 2.5 billion won (US$1.89 million) in transactions during its four-day run in November.
