Banks Rush to Offer Exclusive Bank Accounts for “Bank Wallet Kakao”

SEOUL, Nov. 11 (Korea Bizwire) As KakaoTalk starts its Bank Wallet Kakao service from November 11, Korean banks are rushing to offer bank account products exclusively for the service.

For the so-called “Katok Bank” service, Korean commercial banks including Woori Bank, Hana Bank and Korea Exchange Bank(KEB) rolled out the accounts exclusively for the service to earn customers with respective offerings such as prime rates up to 2 percent and exemption of service fees for mobile and internet transfers.

Bank Wallet Kakao allows users to transfer up to 100,000 won (US$93) per transaction to friends and store up to 500,000 won in the account. The new cash service is jointly offered by the nation’s 16 major banks.
