Bikes Broken During Racing Upcycled into Artworks

BUSAN, May 17 (Korea Bizwire)Bicycle racing operator Busan Spo1 Corp. said Monday it will host the “Upcycle Art Play” exhibition at the play lounge of the Spo1 cycling stadium in the southern port city of Busan from Wednesday to June 30.

This exhibition will showcase a variety of artworks created by its employees using the bicycles broken during cycling competitions or ones abandoned at parks.

Wasted bicycles are reborn as seven types of artworks, including puppies, wall clocks and pencil holders.

After agonizing over how to recycle abandoned bicycles, Spo1 employees started operating an in-house artwork factory in February 2022.

Thereafter, they benchmarked resource circulation centers and collected domestic upcycling cases to create the artworks.
