SEOUL, May 4 (Korea Bizwire) — The rising popularity of highballs has led to the development of a health-conscious whiskey that combines the properties of plums and highballs. Plums have been used for medicinal purposes for centuries and are known to have several health benefits.
Bohae, a South Koran brewing company, launched today the “Maesil Highball Su:n,” the first whiskey highball using plums in Korea. The highball market has been growing in popularity, especially among younger generations who enjoy the versatility and customizable nature of highballs.
Highball Su:n is created by combining Scottish whisky with the technology of Bohae Distillery, which has been producing plum wine for 41 years. The Scottish whisky used in the drink is made using traditional methods, resulting in a deep flavor and unique aroma.
Bohae, based in Gwangju, Jeollanam-do, has the largest plum farm in Korea, producing the finest blue plums grown in sea breeze and high-quality yellow earth. With more than 10 million liters of plum juice in stock, the highball nectar is aged for at least five years.
