SEOUL, April 4 (Korea Bizwire) — Bulls have replaced horses in an unusual racing event where the jockeys were farmers instead of professionals.
The strange sight was observed during a ‘ride with a bull’ competition held recently in North Korea.
The Chosun Sinbo, a pro-North Korea newspaper in Japan, reported that the state held the unusual race at the Mirim Horse Riding Club in Pyongyang on March 8 in celebration of International Women’s Day.
Some 10 farmers competed in a 100-meter race as they rode on bulls they had raised.
Bull races are common only in Thailand or Indonesia.
Unlike other bull races where the animals pull a chariot, the farmers got on the back of the bulls to ride them, making it an even rarer sight.
