Carmakers in Festive Mood as Holidays Approach

SEOUL, Sept. 15 (Korea Bizwire) With the approach of Chuseok, the Korean Thanksgiving holiday, carmakers are providing various services including free rentals.

Hyundai Motor is holding a ‘Hangawi (Korean Thanksgiving Day) Rental’ event in which they plan to provide 200 new Avantes and 100 new Sonatas. The vehicles can be used from September 24 to October 1. Anyone over 26 with a driver’s license can apply at the Hyundai Motors event page until September 16.

Kia Motors is also planning to make 240 cars available for rental.

Kia will provide 160 new K5s and 80 new Sportages to be used when going home for the holidays. Drivers over 21 with a driver’s license can apply at the Kia Motors event page by September 15. Kia is also providing 10 ‘All New Carnival Easy Moves’ that have been modified for use by the disabled. Gas money will be also provided. Applications can be made at the Green Trip homepage (greentrip.kr) until September 22.

Along with Hyundai and Kia, other auto companies are planning to provide free safety checks. Major parts such as engines, brakes and tires will be checked, and expendable components will be changed for free.

Free checkup services will also be provided by foreign motor companies such as Peugeot, Citroën, Ford, Lincoln, Toyota and Lexus. Also, discounts will be provided to those who change parts.

As the holidays are also a time for sharing, Hyundai and Kia are planning to pay their suppliers before Chuseok, which is earlier than the promised date. Also, Onnuri gift certificates worth 100,000 won will be provided to all employees in an effort to revitalize the domestic economy.

As well, employees of Hyundai Motor Group will do volunteer work at welfare facilities and visit neighbors that are alienated for three weeks starting on September 7.
