SEOUL, June 14 (Korea Bizwire) — As expectations for a possible easing of foreign travel restrictions are rising with the increasing number of COVID-19 vaccine recipients, in-flight meal boxes are gaining popularity at convenience stores.
Convenience store chain Emart24’s two in-flight meal boxes released on May 1 saw a 21 percent increase in sales between May 17 and 30, and 42 percent increase between May 24 and June 6.
The rate of sales increase spiked particularly high in business districts, where office workers and employees scrambled to buy in-flight meal boxes.
Between May 27 and June 9, sales of in-flight meal boxes in business districts jumped by 106 percent, surpassing sales in residential areas(73 percent), school districts (62 percent), and entertainment districts (14 percent).
