COVID-19 Vaccine Shines in Cluster Infection

SEOUL, May 6 (Korea Bizwire)In a massive coronavirus breakout at a church in Goesan County, North Chungcheong Province, 23 churchgoers tested positive for the coronavirus except for one person – a lucky individual who had already been vaccinated.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) reported that 22 people who participated in a worship service on April 9 tested positive for the coronavirus. Only one person tested negative for the disease.

“It is difficult to report on whether there were behavioral differences among them in terms of personal sanitation or wearing protective masks during chapel,” the KDCA said.

The county has reported more than 30 cases of infection at the church since April 12.

The government reported that for those over 60 years of age who received their first coronavirus vaccine between February 26 and April 26, the infection prevention rate was expected to be around 87 percent.
