SEOUL, March 2 (Korea Bizwire)To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will also operate “drive-thru” test centers introduced by a number of local governments in other parts of the country.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) on Saturday issued a public notice of “recruitment for medical support group specializing in COVID-19 drive-thru test centers.”

Mobile selective care units refer to drive-thru test centers that are established in an open outdoor space that allow a driver with symptoms to get tested without having to their car.

The city will set up mobile screening clinics at four locations, including Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, and will begin testing on Tuesday.

Specialized medical support groups including doctors, nurses and nursing assistants who will operate the stations, are being recruited by the SMG.

The entire test procedure takes about 10 minutes, and includes a medical examination, temperature check and sample collection – all from the comfort of one’s car.

The advantage is that these types of centers do not require equipment such as negative pressure tents and can reduce disinfection and ventilation time, allowing large-scale testing in a safe and efficient manner.
