SEOUL, Sept. 14 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s major ice cream franchises are placing bigger emphasis on custom ice cream cakes as a way to attract consumers who value their individual tastes.
The No. 2 player Natuur recently opened a custom ice cream cake shop called ‘My Cake House by Natuur’ in the Seoul neighborhood of Sinchon. Customers can tailor ice cream cakes there according to their tastes and serving needs.
“This shop reflects the tendency of the MZ generation (those born between 1980-early 2000) who make unique individualistic consumption on special commemoration days and share such consumption through social media,” a Natuur official said.
The country’s top ice cream franchise Baskin-Robbins opened a Parnas Mall in the posh district of Gangnam in southern Seoul in late July and has been selling custom cakes.
The shop allows customers to select their preferred flavors among 100 different options to make custom ice cream cakes.
