Emergency Kit Service Coming to Seoul Subway Stations

SEOUL, May 11 (Korea Bizwire) – From Band-Aid bandages to sanitary pads and ointments, a new emergency kit service dubbed ‘Goodoc pharmacy’ is coming to a Seoul subway station near you, which any subway rider can use in case of an emergency.

The Goodoc pharmacy service, which was introduced by the Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transport Corporation (SMRT), is set to run for the next six months at 35 different stations on Seoul Subway Lines 5, 6, 7, and 8, the SMRT announced yesterday.

Including Gwanghwamun, Hapjeong, and Jamsil stations, Goodoc pharmacy boxes will be placed in a locker at 35 different locations, from which pain relief patches, tissues, and other necessities can be drawn in order to meet the emergency needs of subway passengers in Seoul.

With a password indicated in front of each locker, the newly introduced emergency kits are available to anyone who is in need.

In addition to a weekly stocking, people can send a KakaoTalk message to @goodoc when the items run out so that the emergency kit can be replenished.

“We hope the new service proves helpful to those who are in urgent need of medical products and personal hygiene toiletries,” said an SMRT official.

“As it’s a free service, we ask for cooperation so that those who are actually in need can make use of the supplies,” the official added.
