SEOUL, Jan. 5 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s food industry is releasing a string of gift sets using eco-friendly packaging ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
Dongwon F&B Co. released a gift set packaged in an eco-friendly material, Paper Press.
It is 100 percent made of paper. A tray made of this material has higher strength than others made of existing paper materials.
The company also increased the production volume of All Paper package sets made by replacing inner plastic trays and fabric bags with paper by more than ten times compared to the Chuseok holiday.
Daesang Corp. also released a gift set using eco-friendly packages, changing the shopping bag material from fabric to paper and the material for inner trays was also changed from plastic to paper.
Meanwhile, Lotte Confectionery Co. removed plastic trays from about 30 kinds of gift sets and plastic caps from its canned ham products.
It also used eco-friendly paper and soybean oil ink certified by the Forest Stewardship Council for gift set trays and boxes.
