Foreign Travelers Return to Jeju Island Following Pandemic

JEJU, July 31 (Korea Bizwire)Foreign travelers are returning to the southern resort island of Jeju as the pandemic fades away.

According to the Jeju Tourism Association, 149,908 foreign travelers visited Jeju as of May this year, which is eight times more than last year.

The travelers, sorted by nationality, included 43,502 Chinese, 22,522 Taiwanese, 18,832 Thai, 13,487 Singaporean, and 12,751 Japanese.

Notably, the number of Taiwanese and Thai travelers increased by 242 and 68 times, respectively, compared to last year.

Singaporean travelers constituted the highest increase, being 55 times higher than last year. In comparison, the increase was 44.5 times for Hong Kong, 22.6 times for Japanese, 20.6 times for Malaysians, and 20.2 times for Chinese.
