SEOUL, Feb. 16 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics Co.’s new Galaxy S22 smartphones set a new pre-order record on the first day it was released by South Korea’s three major mobile carriers — SK Telecom Co., KT Corp. and LG Uplus Corp.
Pre-order sales of new models — the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra — on Monday have surpassed last year’s record by a factor of three or four, the highest reported since the S series was launched in 2010, according to industry sources.
The sales boost is largely attributed to standby demand among consumers who have been waiting for the latest Galaxy smartphone since 2020.
While the majority of pre-order consumers were in their 30s and 40s, buyers in their 20s also grew in proportion since last year.
