SEOUL, Oct. 26 (Korea Bizwire) – GS25, a convenience store chain run by GS Retail, said Thursday it was named the winner of a regional award for marketing, making it the first recipient of the prize by a South Korean company.
The retailer is due to receive the Asia-Pacific Retailers Association award in the best marketing category. The ceremony will be held at the Asia-Pacific Retailers Convention & Exhibition (APRCE), which opens in Kuala Lumpur on Oct. 27-30, officials said.
GS25 claimed credit for becoming the first in the business to strike a deal for coexistence between its head office and branch stores and the first to open its own food research institute.
APRCE is held every two years, with up to 3,000 industry participants attending from 18 member countries. Over 170 attendees from South Korea’s retail sector will be at this year’s event.
