Gwanghuimun Culture Festival Coming to Seoul Next Week

SEOUL, Mar. 14 (Korea Bizwire) — The Gwanghuimun Culture Festival is back for the third time next Monday, bringing a variety of fashion and culture-themed events and shows to Seoul’s historic downtown area.

Under the main theme ‘a spring night, fashion and cultural feast’, this year’s cultural event will take place in tandem with 2018 Seoul Fashion Week from March 19 to 24, the Jung-gu District Office said on Wednesday.

A special runway featuring District Mayor Choi Chang-sik and local residents as models will showcase a rare display of fashion and the local community coming together, before artists take to the stage for musical, K-pop and club-themed performances.

Designers Jaewoo Kim and Go Eun-joo will collaborate with musical actor Kim Min-kook on a rare occasion where both the music and fashion worlds will cross paths, while another runway collaboration between fashion and K-pop as well as a DJ performance will take place during the closing ceremony.

Other events of interest include tours of Jung District, face painting and a fashion flea market.

Some of the roads surrounding Gwanghuimun Gate are scheduled to be blocked to make room for the events between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. next Monday.

“We’ll continue to put effort into discovering the hidden values of Gwanghuimun, and make the area known for rich culture and arts,” District Mayor Choi said.
