Han River Park to Host Paper Boat Race

SEOUL, Jul. 29 (Korea Bizwire)Seoul will be holding a Paper Boat Race at the 2019 Hangang Summer Festival where participants will make paper boats to cross the Han River.

The race, scheduled for this coming Friday to Sunday at Jamsil Hangang Park, will take place over a 50-meter long course set on the river.

Various awards, including Most Beautiful Boat, Most Harmonious Team, and Most Eco-friendly Boat, will be given to the winners.

Registration will be available at Gmarket (http://gmarket.co.kr/) by Thursday.

The race will invite 540 teams (four members per team) who will be given basic instructions on how to build a paper boat along with relevant safety regulations.

Participants will need to bring additional clothes and towels for the event. They will be able to use the showering facilities located inside the park for free.

The event may be cancelled in case of a downpour that produces 20mm in an hour, or if the Paldang Dam releases 1,500㎥ of water per second.

Three rescue vessels and seven life guards will be deployed for safety.
