SEOUL, Apr. 29 (Korea Bizwire) — The first ever five star hotel has been designated in Korea, and the honor went to Hotel Shilla, according to Korean tourism authorities on April 28.
Hotel Shilla passed a field test and a secret test to earn the designation.
Korea’s previous hotel grading system used symbols of flowers rather than the international convention of stars.
As Korea has introduced a new hotel qualification system using star symbols, 760 hotels are waiting to get graded by the new system. Currently, 50 hotels have registered for grading under the new system.
