SEOUL, Aug. 9 (Korea Bizwire) — As a sweltering summer heat wave continues to sweep the nation, household appliances that help ease the burden of household chores have become extremely popular.
According to Lotte Hi-Mart, a large retailer of electronic goods, sales of robot vacuum cleaners soared by 30 percent within the two-week period between July 24 and August 7 compared to the same period last year.
According to Hi-Mart, recent versions of robot cleaners are equipped with very effective sensors that can recognize the interior layout of a room, allowing them to clean corners and other difficult-to-reach areas.
Meanwhile, clothes dryers saw a sales increase of 120 percent, while clothing care systems enjoyed an 80 percent boost.
As the summer’s humidity can make it difficult to completely dry laundry outdoors, clothing care systems help individuals take better care of their wardrobe.
Dishwashers and food waste disposers saw sales increases of 50 percent and 620 percent, respectively.
An official at Hi-Mart said that many customers have been calling stores to ask about household appliances that can assist with chores and help them minimize their physical exertion at home.
